~ History of the Ranch ~
Welcome to TENNESSEE RIVER MUSIC HEREFORDS AND ANGUS. We are a Registered Hereford and Angus production located in Fort Payne, Alabama.

Our cattle production started from land acquired from many of Randy Owen's relatives and friends of his family. The name of our production, Tennessee River Music Inc., was named after the first number one single, written for the group Alabama. The Tennessee River was an integral part of Randy's childhood activities, especially trips with his father buying and selling cattle in Chattanooga, TN and Scottsboro, AL,
at FIRST MONDAY. Randy and his father talked and dreamed of a SEEDSTOCK CATTLE OPERATION like Tennessee River Music Inc. on the trips they took, when they were buying and selling commercial cattle. Randy's grandfathers Joseph Ernest Owen and Henry Baughton Teague Sr. inspired Randy as a child to be very interested in livestock. Lots of the acreage, now part of the ranch, was sharecropped and rented by Randy's family for row crops; where he plowed and worked the fields. Randy was involved in 4H and FFA as a young man. He grew up in the community of Adamsburg (DeKalb County) working with his sisters, and parents on a small family farm, where the ranch is today.

The first Hereford cattle were purchased in 1981. Tennessee River Music Inc. and Randa Owen have shown many champions including many SHOW HEIFERS and SHOW BULLS OF THE YEAR, for the Southeast Region. Randa showed the TRM-bred heifer, TRM RRO Phillie 0002, the National Champion Polled Female at the 2001 Junior National Hereford Expo in Billings, MT. In 2008, Randa showed the National Champion Horned Female, Purple Clover, at the Junior National Hereford Expo in Kansas City, MO. The Hereford operation will celebrate its 29th consecutive production sale May 26th, 2012. The first Angus cattle were purchased in the late '80's. The early years of the Angus operation were private treaty bull sales, and the heifers were retained in the herd. Later on, the decision was made to have an annual Angus production sale the Saturday after Thanksgiving. On November 24th, 2012, the 11th consecutive Angus production sale will be held. The Friday night before each of the production sales, there is a country social hosted by Randy as he performs live music for the guests. 

Randy and Kelly are excited to be passing the cattle operation down to their youngest daughter, Randa Rosanne Owen, to continue Randy's dreams of a first-rate, classy, SEEDSTOCK OPERATION. Randy and Kelly hope to continue hosting these production sales for a long time, but the future of the operation is secure and will continue with Randa's youthful excitement. Visitors and prospective buyers are welcome at the ranch to view the cattle by contacting the office. The owners and the ranch crew thank all the customers throughout the years. ► Junior Incentive Program

The love of the cattle and the excitement they bring to our hearts keeps us optimistic toward the future. Our goal is pretty simple; to consistently breed good, quality cattle, and treat our customers the way we wish to be treated. Here at TRM, we believe the future of our industry lies within our youth who are interested in livestock. Every year, we strive to challenge ourselves. We decided to start out on a new journey with a new junior incentive program for juniors wishing to show a heifer at the Junior National Hereford Expo. The juniors who are involved today will be the ones responsible for "taking us to the future." So, we want to contribute as much as we can to that cause and we say, "Go Get 'Em!"

Grand Champion Heifer: $12,500 in cash
$12,500 in credit towards the purchase of one TRM or RRO heifer the following year.
$25, 000 total prize

Reserve Grand Champion Heifer: $2,500 cash

Division Champion: $ 1,000 cash

~ The prize money only pertains to the Junior National Hereford Expo, no other shows.
~ The heifer must be a TRM or RRO heifer. The heifer cannot have the breeder listed as any other party.
~ The heifer must be purchased private treaty or at the Dixieland Delight Production sale
~ The heifer must be purchased in, and remain in, the same juniors name who will be exhibiting the heifer at Junior Nationals.
~ The entry deadline for the Junior National Hereford Expo is JUNE 1st. Do not fret, we WILL have any heifer transferred into the junior's name, in time to enter, after being paid in full for that female.
